Inaugural Media Tour Showcases uMfolozi’s Investment Potential
The first Annual uMfolozi Media Tour was hosted by the Municipality on Thursday 27 September 2018. The Media Tour created a platform for the Municipality to inform South Africa and beyond that uMfolozi is an investor-friendly community that is open for business and investment.
Council, Management and Media Representatives visited largescale developmental projects in uMfolozi, in an effort to showcase various infrastructure projects, tourist attractions as well as business opportunities within the Municipality.
Sports development has been recognised by the Municipality as a key strategy in the promotion of youth development in the area.
This has been influenced by the success of the Siyabonga Sangweni Sports Festival which was created in recognition of national soccer legend and uMfolozi native Siyabonga Sangweni. In order to make sports development a reality, the Municipality has collaborated with the Department of Sport and Recreation and built a state of the art stadium called Mawombe Sports field in Cinci Ward 11.
The Media Tour contingent visited the soon to be opened Thusong Centre that will promote cost-effective, integrated, efficient and sustainable services provision to better serve the needs of people of uMfolozi. The contingent also visited the newly opened Eteza Traffic Control Centre, the under-construction Mlondo Road in Cinci Ward 11, as well as tourism destinations such as the uMfolozi Bird Park and Reptile City.
uMfolozi Municipality’s objective is to change the lives of its community as well as developing a strong and sustainable economy through tourism, infrastructural development as well as delivering quality services to the community.
