uMfolozi Municipality Mayor Cllr Smanga Mgenge, learners and teachers were filled with joy when Communications Minister Faith Muthambi handed over 10 bicycles to the learners of Ntongande High School on Wednesday, 11 January 2017, the first day of 2017 school year, as part of her Back to School Campaign.
The uMfolozi Municipality officially launched the Local Aids Council and Operation Sukuma Sakhe Local Task Team. The launch was held on Monday 19 December 2016 at the uMfolozi Municipal Hall.
The uMfolozi Municipality in partnership with private businesses donated computers to the Khayalethemba Community Centre on Monday 19 December in ward 5. The donation of the computers was as a result of the uMfolozi Municipality’s programme of providing skills upliftment within the community with the help of the business community in order to fully tackle unemployment.
The uMfolozi Municipality held the 2016 Matric Awards Ceremony to honour the top achieving matriculants in uMfolozi, on Friday, 20 January 2017 at the uMfolozi Municipal Hall. A hundred and sixteen deserving learners were awarded with bursaries and certificates, while the top ten high achieving schools were awarded for their commitment to producing quality education.
Minister of Communications Faith Muthambi held a Digital Terrestrial Television Imbizo in uMfolozi Municipality at the Donda Sports Field, ward 17. The aim of the DTT Imbizo was to raise public awareness on Digital Terrestrial Television and the migration from analogue to digital television.
uMfolozi Municipality held a Senior Citizens Healthy Living Lifestyle Awareness Campaign at the Slovo Out Door Gym, ward 2 on Wednesday, 1 March 2017. Under the theme “Kuguga othandayo” The Senior Citizens Healthy Lifestyle Awareness Campaign, aimed to promote a healthy active lifestyle amongst the elderly community residents, while also promoting the protection of elderly citizens in our communities and family environment.
The uMfolozi Municipality handed over certificate to five newly graduated traffic officers at the uMfolozi Municipal Hall on Friday 20 January 2017. The traffic officers will be an added advantage towards strengthening road safety within the Municipality of uMfolozi.
The uMfolozi Municipality in partnership with the National Department of Arts and Culture held an uMfolozi Youth in Business Workshop on Wednesday 26 October 2016 at the Nzalabantu Community Hall in ward 5.
It is that time of the year again when our matriculants sit for their final examinations after a long and hard year of studying. Matric is the time for all learners to reflect on their schooling careers and plan for their future careers. Learners should also be proud to sit for this exam because many students did not complete the schooling cycle.
The uMfolozi Municipality held a Ward Committee Graduation Ceremony at the uMfolozi Municipal Hall on the 10th of June 2016. The ceremony was held to honour ward committee members; who participated in the Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs leadership programme as well as recognise the members for their 5 year voluntary service in local government.
Over 80 women were present in the Widows summit which was coordinated by uMfolozi Local Municipality as from 13-15May 2016 in Meet Makaar.
On Wednesday, 04 May 2016, Working on Fire (WoF) joined the global firefighting community in celebrating International Firefighters’ Day during a ceremony held at uMfolozi Local Municipality, KwaMbonambi.
