The uMfolozi Municipality in partnership with private businesses donated computers to the Khayalethemba Community Centre on Monday 19 December in ward 5. The donation of the computers was as a result of the uMfolozi Municipality’s programme of providing skills upiftment within the community with the help of the business community in order to fully tackle unemployment.
Fourteen Computers were handed over to Khayalethemba Community Centre by the municipality and the business community. Khayelethemba is a Non-Governmental Organisation that has an orphanage, day care centre and youth centre. Khayelethemba is playing a critical role in helping to uplift the community of Mbonambi. Prior to the hand over, the community centre had 5 computers that help provide critical computer skills to residents of uMfolozi especially the youth.
Member of Parliament, Ms Nocawe Mafu said the computers will serve as a critical component in the community. “The computers will help the Khayalethemba Centre provide basic practical computer skills to the community, especially the youth of uMfolozi who need to be able to be technologically survey in order to compete with the rest of the world in the job market,” said MP Nocawe.
