The training course is governments effort to improve communication between the municipality and the community, further curbing service delivery strikes.
UMfolozi Mayor Cllr Smanga Mgenge congratulated the ward committee members for completing the course. “Learning alone will not take you far but it is the implementation of what you have learnt that will take you further in life,” said the Mayor. His worship Cllr Mgenge continued that in order for the ward committee’s members to have direction, they must discover themselves and take advantage of opportunities presented to them.
Ukhozi Fm presenter Sbu Buthelezi told the graduates that no one can take away the skills which they have learned through the programme. He further urged all Ward Committee members to put to good use the information they had on local government in order to assist their communities. “Take that certificate go out there and use it, it will be worth it. There is a person out there who does not understand local government, but because you as a ward committee member have the information you have a responsibility to teach them,” said Buthelezi.
The leadership course will help the ward committee members gain needed skills which they can use after their term in service ends in August this year. Representatives from Cogta KZN, municipal and business stakeholders were also present to celebrate the achievements of the graduates.
